The online Duty Motel system makes it easy for you and customers to find a motel with an available room/unit. Moteliers log onto the Duty Motel website on a daily basis and set which rooms they want to appear as available. Other participating moteliers can then see who has rooms available, and therefore can refer custom onto those with availability. The two main advantages of the online Duty Motel system is that it is nationwide, and also that it allows you to see who has available rooms many weeks or even months in the future. This has proven to be a huge improvement on time-consuming manual Duty Motel fax or phone based schemes. With the online Duty Motel system every motel is the Duty Motel!

Nationwide Coverage

With over 500 motels throughout New Zealand already using the online Duty Motel system, it has become an essential tool for many moteliers. Even if your local region does not have a large number of motels using the Duty Motel system, participating and using it yourself is a great way to add value for your customers. Helping them find accommodation at their next destination is a service that is highly valued. But remember, if you are not listed then you really are missing out on the opportunity to gain referral business for minimal costs.

We have specifically designed Duty Motel to be as easy to use as possible. If you can switch on your computer then you can use Duty Motel! Updating your room availability will typically take you just a couple of minutes each day. We know that you are busy people!

Online Availability & Booking

All Duty Motel users can opt to display rooms as being available on the popular www.holidayguide.co.nz website; any customer wishing to make a booking is required to contact you directly to confirm a reservation. This service normally costs $15 per month, but is provided without any additional cost to Duty Motel members. Rooms set as available are displayed on the MANZ website (www.nzmotels.co.nz).

You can also opt to use our low cost commission-FREE online booking service – this enables customers to make an instant confirmation booking. Online booking is proving extremely popular with customers as it provides a fast and convenient way of making a booking. Even if the customer is overseas where time-zones and international toll calls make booking difficult and expensive, online booking is a breeze. Online booking starts from just $10 per month for unlimited commission-FREE reservations.

iSite And Travel Agent Bookings

Duty Motel also allows you to make rooms available to iSites and Travel Agents via our sister website www.roomsearch.co.nz. All reservations via this sales channel are based on a standard 10% commission rate. This service is provided at no additional cost to Duty Motel members.

Automatic Updating

You can automatically update your room availability/minimum stay and pricing automatically via a range of external reservation systems. We currently link to Siteminder, Motel Mate, Starfleet, Rubbertree, Callista (via Seekom) and RHS-Roonsoft (via Welman) reservations systems. We are also currently developing links with Nexus, Qres, Ros2000 and many other systems.

Using A Call-Centre With Duty Motel

Setting up an telephone answering service / Call-centre with Duty Motel gives your customers one number to call to find the room(s) they are looking for in your region. Having your customers's calls answered by independent professional consultants means happier customers, the consultant is there to ensure the customer gets exactly what they are looking for in terms of desired motel facilities and budget. Using a call-centre also means that calls get answered quicker - with most manual Duty Motel systems the person who is on duty is on the phone can rarely cope with more than one call at a time. From a promotional point of view as you only have one number to promote, your group advertising can be much more powerful. You dont need to include every motel in your region in the advert anymore!

Working With MANZ

Duty Motel is operated in conjunction with MANZ and has enjoyed a strong level of involvement from members right from the original design of the system. Duty Motel was developed initially for the Nelson Branch and the experience of Nelson moteliers has definitely proven that by working closely together, members have been able to maintain their place in Nelson as the preferred accommodation suppliers.

Q: Who Can Use Duty Motel?

Only MANZ members (or members of MANZ affiliated motel associations) can use Duty Motel.

Q: Will I Need Jetstream / Fast Internet?

A fast internet connection is not required (although it will make everything a lot quicker). If you use a dial-up internet connection then you may find that it takes longer to dial-up than it does update your availability!

Q: How Much Does It Cost?

An annual subscription to Duty Motel is just $96 (this is only $8 per month or less than 27c a day!). The subscription charge is automatically invoiced to you directly when you join and annually thereafter.
